Global Lens 2006

Being presented for the first time in Palm Springs as part of the Festival, the third edition of The Global Film Initiative Film Series will introduce local audiences to remarkable stories told in every corner of the world, through the universal language of cinema. The Initiative supports and promotes the work of filmmaking from Africa, Asia, Latin America and the Middle East, bringing internationally acclaimed films to audiences across the United States.

Every year, The Initiative acquires as many as ten exceptional narrative films from the developing world, all of which have made a significant impact in the international film community, yet were overlooked by commercial film distributors in this country.

The Palm Springs Film Festival is pleased to present eight films and a collection of shorts as selections from Global Lens 2006 – stories of love and laughter, of conflict, survival and escape, of reconciliation and coming of age. The intrinsic beauty of each of these stories, enhanced by their colors, shapes and cultural textures, creates a rich mosaic of the human experience.
